ExcellentBased on 869 reviewsVerifiedFullyNZ2024-05-31Wow! Pacific Rendezvous is located on a impressive cliff top, overlooking the stunning Tutukaka Coastline over towards the Poor Knights Islands. Being only 40 minutes from Whangarei Airport, 30 minutes from the City Centre, and only 5 minutes down to Tutukaka, it's a location that is hard to beat. Super easy to find, with everything well signposted. The Gent at Reception was very friendly and welcoming, offering great local suggestions, and also excellent directions to my room, and also the Properties amenities. It seemed like I was the only one staying on this Stormy Weeknight just before Winter. My room was located at the end of a block of Apartments. Parking located directly outside the door, including a large overhang meaning I could unload the car in the pouring Rain. On entering the Apartment, there is a decent sized kitchen with a Oven and Stovetop, Full sized Fridge Freezer and all the stuff needed to cook a decent meal. The Bathroom was a bit of a let down, appearing very dated. Also the Shower pressure was a shocker. The Lounge/Living Area was large and spacious, with a Dining Table and Large Sofa. Large Telly with all the Sky Channels (including Movies). Not that I watched any Telly. The views outside the large sliding doors over the Stormy Ocean was mesmerising. A view that could be enjoyed for many hours and days. Upstairs is the Bedroom with a large bed, and also a smaller single bed. The bed was very comfy, with crisp, clean white linen. There is also a Small Deck, again overlooking the ocean, with a small seating area. Perfect for your morning Cuppa. I spent the whole afternoon after checking in, enjoying watching a Storm roll in across the Ocean, listening to the rain and wind batter the front of the Apartment. A Heatpump in the living area kept the Unit at a good constant temperature. The grounds of the Resort are well kept and maintained. It struck me as a fantastic place to bring a family with young kids. With two private beaches within walking distance, a swimming pool, a spa pool, tennis court, playground, and plenty of space to throw a ball around - there is a LOT to keep everyone occupied. Beside Reception there is a well stoked Shop, kind of like what you would find at a Campground. They also sell proper barista Coffee! The Resort has heaps of different Accommodation options. Being the quiet season, all but one of the Restaurants in Tutukaka were closed. Highly recommend Fish and Chips from the Store in nearby Matapouri! But definitely something to keep in mind - it might pay to Self Cater and take advantage of the proper Kitchen. A stay at Pacific Rendezvous is a treat. The views alone are to die for. Add to that the Resort Facilities, the Clean and Comfy Apartments, and the handy location. My disappointment was the bathroom. The rest of the apartment was so fresh and quite modern, and yet the bathroom seemed to be quite old. The Shower had awful pressure, and had a really touchy mixer, going from freezing cold, to boiling hot in a moment. At $275 a night for a 1 Bedroom Apartment in the off season, it's probably bang on for the offering. Why pay $200 to stay in a pokey room in a Chain Hotel in town, when you can spend a bit extra, come out to Pacific Rendezvous, and enjoy the views and facilities on offer. I cannot wait to return for another visit, hopefully for much longer than just one night. :)VerifiedJackie W2024-04-03A must stay - Stunning and Serene Easter Break - We were lucky to be able to stay and very much enjoy the Pacific Rendezvous in Tutukaka. Here you will find Ian and Sue who manage the resort , they are truly amazing . the 2 bedroom unit we had was just wonderful , clean , comfy , cosy and well equipt. The view was really out of this world beautiful. The grounds have a great salt water pool -spa , laundry , games room and shop and reception. Walks are a plenty and help is always on hand. Beaches a walk away , shopping a short r drive away. Please go , the Pacific Rendezvous and Tutukaka is a must to visit ! Thanks again Ian and Sue for a wonderful holiday. We will be backVerifiedMomelco2024-04-01Clean, Comfy, and Quiet Stayed at the Pacific Rendezvous for two nights in February – specifically due to the ratings and vicinity of Dive Tutukaka. Ian helped me at check-in and was extremely friendly and helpful! He provided a local map and details on the area, hikes, restaurants, etc. There is a small store connected to the reception desk where you can purchase snacks, beverages, etc. You can also rent a beach towel if needed. The place is very cozy and clean. I stayed in a studio, which had ocean views from the back patio on the main level and the bedroom upstairs. It’s similar to a duplex and unit is individually owned and managed by Ian and Susan. The units are self-accommodating. The unit does have wifi although it continuously cut in and out for me. The unit I stayed in had AC on the main level but not upstairs, which was exceptionally hot. Location-wise – it’s pretty secluded and VERY relaxing and quiet. In that aspect, I’d give it 5 stars. On the other end of the spectrum, it is not walkable if you want to be within walking distance of a shops/stores, etc. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe. There are a few ocean hikes/areas that are private to Pacific Rendezvous – Harbour Beach and Ocean Beach. I already planned to hike Whale Bay and Matapouri Bay, which were a short drive away otherwise I would have explored these two beaches. There is an onsite pool, playground area, tennis court, game room, laundry room, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (would have given it 4.5 if that was an option) was the AC. There was a fan in the closet, but it was rusty/dusty so did not use it. That said, I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely stay again. The views and ocean sounds are the absolute best if you are looking for some quiet and relaxation.VerifiedKate3202024-03-24They had me at the view What a wonderful place to land! This view is worth the trip to New Zealand. We had a 260 degree view of the bay and Poor Knights Islands -- of sunrise -- it was really an incredible location. Our two bedroom unit was perfect, no television, kitchen had the basics. I will say that the lighting -- like everywhere in New Zealand -- tends toward operating room bright or pitch dark. But it's a minor complaint for a lovely, lovely location and a comfortable, clean unit with an eye-popping view.VerifiedMary A2024-03-13Paradise found I really don't want people to know about this place because I would rather it remain a secret. But in all fairness to PRRM and the owners/managers, Ian and Sue, their place deserves serious consideration and praise. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable, clean, efficiently run resort, look no further when you visit this part of New Zealand. This is not Vegas, this is not glitz and glamour, this is pure and simple stunning beauty. Hawaii has nice beaches, but they are crowded with tourists. The Tutukaka area beaches are gorgeous and amazing and NOT crowded!! We spent 10 days here in paradise and hope to return as soon as possible, too bad its such a long way from Colorado!! :( Check their website pictures to see this little piece of serenity and peace.VerifiedKiwiTravellers2023-04-02Been there!! Absolutely spotless!! Very comfortable beds, exceptional good quality clean linen on the beds. The unit was fine, but found the building to be old, appears to be slowly being renovated, looked like a time share arrangement to us. We thought the doors internally & the back door to be very shabby & extremely hard to close. Not great for security purposes.VerifiedVoyager676355842802023-03-15Perfect getaway resort. Our beautiful apartment was very clean and well appointed. It was so comfortable with top of the line furniture and a very comfortable huge bed. We stayed in unit 8 which was absolutely lovely. It was so sunny and private and had the most magnificent views right out to the Poor Knights islands. Each morning we sat on our private deck and watched the charter boats leaving the Tutukaka harbour for a day of adventures. We swam at the private beach and then the lovely pool, followed by a hot spa. What more could you possibly want?New Zealand is a beautiful country and let’s face it…..it’s all about the views and Pacific Rendezvous has the best! Thanks so much Sue and Ian, you are the perfect hosts.VerifiedKapitiKiwis2022-06-12Will come back without the storm! Well we arrived and it started raining and blew a gale and did not stop until we left 2 days later. We had a great room, spacious with a lounge, dining table, kitchen and upstairs the bedroom. Fantastic views from downstairs and even better upstairs. There are decks and chairs both up and down stairs, to sit outside. The grounds were fabulous, views amazing, and they had a tennis court, spa, swimming pool, games room, and even a little shop. We wanted an end room so we had privacy on one side and corner views, which was awesome but due to high winds it blew and whistled around the corner all night. It was terrible weather which was a shame, as it’s a fabulous place, you can even walk down to a private beach. Great place for kids as well. Definitely recommend a stay, all rooms have fantastic views and are really spaced out to give you privacy.VerifiedAnne Taylor2022-05-30Serenity What a lovely venue. Quiet, spectacular views, great fishing, clean well appointed unit. Almost like a second honeymoon.... Can't wait to go back. There is so much to do in Tutukaka, beautiful beaches, locals are friendly. There is something for everyone.VerifiedAngus L2021-11-22Top service This is a beautiful place with fabulous views and facilities but the service and management is why we will return. We had several special requests to accommodate an elderly relative who is very unwell, nothing was too much bother. The service ensured we were all comfortable and able to share some special family time. We have rebooked while our family member can still enjoy and will definitely return at a later date with grandchildren. Thank you
