Wahi Restaurant and Bar
Wahi is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner or simply for a coffee, a light meal or leisurely drink. Located in the Oceans hotel complex by the marina, everyone is welcome, jandals and sandy feet included! The extensive outdoor area is popular on a sunny morning. Major sports events can be viewed on a large screen.
Schnappa Rock Restaurant and Bar prides itself on using local produce to provide diners with a “Pacific” orientated eating experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is a unique Fale-style building with ample dining seating and a spacious bar. As well as serving dinner they are open for morning coffee and lunch during the week and for breakfast at weekends and also have a substantial Bar Snacks menu.

Deep Sea Anglers Club Restaurant and Bar
An aquatic social club based at Tutukaka Marina. Enjoy the Club amenities, providing a warm and friendly convivial atmosphere. The Club features Summahs Bistro, bars, lounge area and a large outdoor deck with seating overlooking the marina.
Tutukaka Coast beaches are among the most spectacular in New Zealand. There are so many beaches to choose from, each with individual character and beauty. The white sandy beaches include Matapouri Bay, Woolley’s Bay, Whale Bay and Whangaumu Bay. The inner harbour pebble beaches are Pacific Bay, Kowharewa Bay and Church Bay (accessible via Tutukaka Block Road). There is also the famous surf beach, Sandy Bay. And that’s only to get you started! Roads and pathways lead to many of the beaches, whilst others are accessible via the coast by climbing around the rocks at low tide. If you are looking for action and adventure or a peaceful, private bit of sand away from others, there is something for you on the beaches of the Tutukaka Coast. Any time of year from dawn to dusk, the beaches of the Tutukaka Coast will take your breath away. So bring your camera, enjoy our lovely coastline and leave behind only your footsteps in the sand.
The Poor Knights marine reserve and HMS Tui/HMS Waikato wrecks are dive destinations off the Tutukaka Coast. Dive boats depart daily and with 100′s of sites to choose from the options are extensive. Several dive companies operate from Tutukaka Marina. Either hire full gear or just the equipment that you need on the day. PADI Dive courses, refresher dives and underwater photography are all available.

The panoramic scenery is breathtaking, the beaches pristine and often secluded and the native New Zealand bush superb. Whether you have 5 minutes or several hours available there is a walkway for you on the Tutukaka Coast.
Fishing charters, yacht charters and small boat charters are available by arrangement from Tutukaka Marina. The Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers Club displays trophies for several world record catches from the local area. Fishing competitions run regularly from Tutukaka. You don’t have to travel far to bring home a good sized snapper! Rock fishing and surf casting are also popular along the coast.
Poor Knights Islands Cruises
Full day eco-cruises to the Poor Knights Islands depart from Tutukaka Marina. See the islands (due to wildlife reserve status landing is prohibited), hear about their history, snorkel, kayak, go into Riko Riko Cave (world’s largest sea cave). If luck is on your side see dolphins, penguins or even whales. Some operators do overnight cruises around the coast and Islands. A river cruise also operates on request along the historic Ngunguru River.
The Perfect Day ocean cruise will take you on a half day journey of marine adventure for the whole family. Above and below water, the Poor Knights Islands are abundantly populated with unique and incredibly varied plant, animal and fish life, and thoroughly deserve their protected status.Converging warm water currents, a micro-climate and thousands of years of separation from the mainland have resulted in a unique biodiversity with the world’s largest sea cave, only living dinosaur and largest insect.
Sandy Bay and the Ngunguru Bar are the Tutukaka Coast’s most popular surfing spots. You can hire boards and/or take lessons through Tutukaka Surf Experience based in Tutukaka Marina. Beginners, families, groups and experienced surfers are all welcome. Surfing competitions take place at Sandy Bay. With parking directly next to the beach, whether you’re a surfer or just enjoying the view, Sandy Bay is great entertainment.
Tutukaka Surf Company will help you experience the magic that is surf riding, in a safe environment, with qualified coaches. With surf lessons, surfboard hire and a coastal surf shop fully stocked with coastal and surf related product, it is our pleasure to make your surfing experience maximum fun while staying on the Tutukaka Coast. The friendly staff love the surf and beach life, and are able to give real advice on surf boards, surf accessories and wetsuits as well as what surf conditions are like today.
The Tutukaka Coast has endless opportunities for kayaking at every level. Ocean, river and inner harbour kayaking are all on offer. Kayaking can start either from Tutukaka Marina, Ngunguru, Whangaumu Bay, Matapouri or the Ngunguru River. Kayak hire or lessons and guided tours are available. Advance bookings for kayaking are highly essential so you can arrange pick-up/drop-off points with the operators.
